Experience with Jeffrey Meuser at Your Story Counseling
My ex-wife and I sought therapy with Jeffrey to address issues with our teenage son, who has combined ADHD and struggles with phone addiction, rendering numerous screen time contracts ineffective. My ex-wife’s inconsistent enforcement prompted us to seek expert help. Jeffrey’s primary solution was a new contract granting our son 24/7 phone access (including social media, games, and overnight use) for a semester, contingent on good grades. My ex-wife supported this, and I felt pressured to agree to maintain contact with my son. As I predicted, the contract failed quickly. Despite this, Jeffrey repeatedly offered the same ineffective advice over several sessions.
When we raised concerns about our son using AI for schoolwork and suggested blocking it, Jeffrey dismissed the idea, saying, “that’s the world we live in,” citing his podcast listening as expertise, but offering no helpful guidance.
Additionally, I sought Jeffrey’s help because my ex-wife was upsetting our college-aged daughter by discussing our parental conflicts and our son’s issues with her. When I directly asked Jeffrey if this was appropriate, he repeatedly evaded the question with vague responses like “things get out,” refusing to acknowledge the negative impact on our daughter or validate my concerns.
